Target Talk

Talk builds, law and technique with the people who do the same.

Target Talk is the platform's own social board: an open area for firearm enthusiasts, FFL holders and armorers to discuss what they shoot and build — held to the law, checked before anything publishes, and wired into the builds themselves.

Members only · free to join · every post passes the content check before it goes up · the professional areas are written by FFL holders and armorers

What is on the board

One community for firearm owners and the licensed professionals who build for them — open talk for everyone, professional areas for FFL holders and armorers, and a straight line from a posted build to a dealer who will take it on.

Every member

The open discussion board

Builds, laws, technique, safety and events. Every member can post text, images, documents and approved links — and every word of it is read by the content check before it goes up.

  • Ask a question, post a range report, raise a law question or an event
  • Reply, quote another member and tag them by name
  • Anything that should not be there can be flagged by any member, with a reason

Written by FFL holders and armorers

The Knowledge Board

Professional guidance, kept in forum areas so a subject stays in one place instead of scattering through the feed — firearm safety, compliance, build practice and more.

  • Topics are opened by licensed dealers and armorers, and the areas are named for the subject
  • Every member reads them and replies, so the questions land under the answers
  • The professional areas stay professional: writing there is the dealers' and armorers' own

For licensed businesses

The Solicitation Board

Where an FFL holder or an armorer introduces the business itself: what it offers, the brands it carries, the work it takes on, and how to come and see it.

  • The advertisement is for the business as a whole, with examples — not for one firearm
  • A single gun offered for sale is refused here, and everywhere else on the board
  • Listed openly, so members can read what is near them and reply in public

Post a build

Build peer review

Post one of your saved builds and the board answers it. The render, the parts list, the performance scores, the drop chart and the target picture all travel with the post — the price does not.

  • Every response names a part and proposes an exchange against it
  • Each proposal carries the build's scores before the change and after it
  • The suggestion is illustrated: the proposed parts fitted and rendered

The result of peer review

Variants

A proposal the author keeps becomes a variant: the same build with the proposed parts fitted, scored and rendered, credited to whoever put it forward — and adoptable into your own collection.

  • One part exchanged or several at once, all fitted together and read as one build
  • Rendered before anything is ordered, so the change can be seen first
  • Keep the original, keep the variant, or adopt it and make it yours

FFL fees and armorer fees only

FFL bidding

Posting a build for offers costs $5. Verified dealers then bid privately against exactly that build, and only you and the dealer who made an offer can read it.

  • An offer is the dealer's fee for building and transferring the configuration, and the armorer's fee where assembly is needed
  • The platform does not sell firearms: the transfer itself happens in person, at the licensed dealer, on the law's terms
  • Select the offer you want and the order opens with that dealer, priced on one itemised invoice

How a build travels through Target Talk

Nothing is ordered off the back of a thread by accident. Each step is a deliberate one, and the last one is in your hands.

  1. 1

    Post what you have

A question, a law you are unsure of, or one of your builds. The content check reads it before it publishes, and you are told what it found if it holds anything back.

  2. 2

    The board answers

Members and professionals reply, quote and propose. Flags and the readers' own votes keep a thread honest.

  3. 3

    Proposals become variants

A proposed exchange the author keeps becomes a variant of the build — scored, rendered and credited to the member who suggested it.

  4. 4

    Dealers bid privately

A build posted for offers goes to verified FFLs. Their fee and lead time come back to you alone, and you choose which one to take.

  5. 5

    The order opens

The selected offer becomes an order with that dealer, and the paperwork, the counter signing, the QA and the handover all live on one record.

Open talk, kept to the law

The board is deliberately open, and deliberately watched. That combination is the whole point: you can say what you actually think, and nothing about the platform puts the community or the platform itself at risk.

Every post is checked before it is published

Nothing reaches the board without going through both halves of the content check first.

  • A written rule set reads the post first: the groups the platform blocks outright, and the wording it always looks at.
  • A contextual check then reads the post as a whole — the text, the captions and where every link points.
  • What passes goes up. What is held stays with its author: they are told exactly what was found, and nothing of theirs is published in the meantime.
  • A held post can be changed and sent again — if it passes, it publishes without a moderator — or withdrawn from the queue altogether.

Members flag, moderators decide

The board is open, so the watching is shared between the members and the staff.

  • Any member can flag a post for a named reason: a private sale, an illegal part, home manufacturing, a threat, illegal material, a hostile tone, advice that may be wrong, or spam.
  • The serious reasons take the post out of the feed the moment they are filed, before anyone has read it.
  • Threads the readers turn on are sent for review as well — more than ten votes with more than 80% of them negative.
  • A moderator can publish a post back, withhold it or take it down for good, and every decision leaves a line in the moderation history with the note behind it.

What that means for you

Moderation is meant to be visible to the person it applies to, never a post that quietly disappears.

  • You can open your own post in any state, including while it is held, with the reason, the wording picked up and who decided written on it.
  • A post waiting on a moderator is yours to take back: nobody has spent time on it, and it comes back to you as a draft.
  • Change a held post to something that passes and it publishes straight away — the queue is for what is genuinely unclear.
  • Breaking the rules ends in a ban, recorded with the reason, rather than a quiet deletion.

What the board is not for

  • No private sales, trades or gifts between members — the transfer belongs to the licensed dealer.
  • No illegal parts or conversions: conversion switches, auto sears, unregistered suppressors and the like.
  • No making parts at home, and no manufacturing files — .stl, .step and the rest are refused at upload.
  • No threats, no harassment and no spam.
  • No offering a single firearm for sale, anywhere on the board.
  • Legal talk is welcome. Advice presented as settled law is looked at by a moderator before it stays up.

Before you join the board

The short answers to what members ask most.

Who can read Target Talk?

Signed-in members. It is a members-only board: reach for it and the platform asks you to sign in first, then brings you straight back to it. Creating an account is free.

Can I post without being an FFL?

Yes. Every member can post discussions and post their own builds for peer review. The professional areas run the other way: Knowledge topics are opened by FFL holders and armorers, and Solicitations by licensed businesses advertising themselves.

What does a dealer's offer cover?

The dealer's fee for building and transferring the configuration and, where assembly is needed, the armorer's fee. The platform never sells a firearm — parts and fees are priced on one itemised invoice, and the firearm is transferred to you in person at the dealer.

Do proposals change my build?

Only if you decide they should. A proposal is a suggestion: keep it and it becomes a variant of your build — scored, rendered and credited to the member who proposed it — and you can adopt it, edit it or leave your original exactly as it is.

How heavily is it moderated?

Every post is read by the rule set and the contextual check before it publishes. Members flag what should not be there, the serious reasons take a post out of the feed immediately, and the readers' votes can send a thread to a moderator too.

Can I take something back?

While a post is waiting on a moderator you can change it and send it again, or withdraw it and keep it as a private draft. A decision a moderator has already made is theirs, not the author's to undo.

Post the build and see what the board says

Sign in, post a discussion or one of your saved builds, and let the community and the professionals take it apart — then take the parts of the review worth keeping.
